Digging In to a Better Camarillo Springs

If you’ve played a round with us lately, you’ve probably noticed some dirt piles, some flags in the ground, and maybe a detour or two around the course. Good news: that’s all progress in the works! Here’s a look at what our team has been working on behind the scenes and why it’s going to make Camarillo Springs a better place to play for years to come.

#1: Cleaning Up the Drainage Basin Near #12

Last week, we cleared out and cleaned up the drainage basin in front of #12 green. This week, we’re continuing that work, connecting our new ditch to the street drain nearby. Once it’s tied in, the ditch will carry water in one clear direction: into the pond near hole #14.

#2: A New Ditch Between #13 and Ridgeview

We’re also digging a ditch between the #13 trees and Ridgeview to help mitigate flooding in that area. To keep play safe while the work settles in, we built a barricade around it so balls don’t roll down into it.

#3: Valves, Sprinklers, and Mainlines

That’s not all. Our team continues to repair valves, sprinklers, and mainlines throughout the rest of the course, so every hole gets the water it needs, right where it needs it.

The Fairways Are Coming Back

Two months ago, the #2 fairway was completely brown. Today, we have enough grass to widen the fairways. You’ll notice some “scalping” in spots, that’s just a result of extending the fairway edge, and it’s a good sign of healthy growth underneath.

Why It All Matters

The goal behind all of this work is simple: fewer course closures after heavy rain, and a course that holds up better round after round. In the coming months, expect continuous improvements to the course, fueled by our new ownership, great staff, and their dedication to reviving Camarillo Springs Golf Course!
